Praia Grande — Ferragudo

Praia Grande

🎟️ €0 🕐 Mon-Sun

Praia Grande is the village's main beach, a wide curve of soft sand where the Arade opens to the sea, sheltered enough for easy swimming and shallow play, which makes it a firm family favourite.

The river setting gives it character: the São João do Arade fort closes the northern end, boats come and go to the marina, and the calm water suits paddleboarding, kayaking and beginner watersports as much as sunbathing. There are beach bars and seasonal lifeguards, parking behind, and the old town a short walk up the hill — so a beach day and a village lunch fold easily into one. South from here the coast turns to the cove beaches of Pintadinho and Caneiros.
