It is the village's social spine: the riverside square and its terraces fill at lunch and again at dusk, with front-row views over the water to Portimão's waterfront and the marina traffic sliding past. Ferry and tour boats leave from here for river cruises and the coast, and the São João do Arade fort closes the scene at the river mouth. Come for a long seafood lunch and stay for the evening light on the water.
