The Penina opened in 1966 as the Algarve's first resort hotel and golf course, and the estate still plays the part: 360 acres of green between Portimão and Alvor around the Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course — host of multiple Portuguese Opens — plus two shorter courses for the mortal.
