Taxi or private transfer — what is the difference?

On paper, both get you from Humberto Delgado Airport to your door. In practice, a street taxi is metered, which means the final price is only known at the end and tends to climb with traffic, luggage, and night surcharges. How much does a taxi from Lisbon Airport cost?

A metered taxi from the airport to central Lisbon usually falls within a modest range, although the amount on the meter depends on traffic, the time of day, and the number of bags. Surcharges are commonly added at night and for luggage, so the figure that is paid is rarely the figure that was expected.
